Vibramycin Uses Vibramycin is a tetracycline antibiotic. It fights bacteria in the body. Vibramycin is used to treat many different bacterial infections, such as urinary tract infections, acne, gonorrhea, and chlamydia, periodontitis (gum disease), and others. How to Use Vibramycin Take Vibramycin exactly as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. It can be taken with or without food.
Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you. Vibramycin Side Effects This drug may cause following serious side effects : an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives), severe headache, vision changes, or confusion, liver damage (yellowing of the skin or eyes, nausea, abdominal pain or discomfort, unusual bleeding or bruising, severe fatigue), or· blood problems (fever, fatigue, easy bruising or bleeding). If you experience any of the following less serious side effects, continue to take Vibramycin and talk to your doctor: nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight, swollen tongue, or vaginal yeast infection. Vibramycin Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history, including: Liver disease. Do not take Omnipen- N if you
have ever had an allergic reaction to it.
Vibramycin should not be used without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. As it might passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Ask your doctor Before breast-feeding a baby.
Alcohol may irritate your stomach if taken with ampicillin, so use it with moderation
Vibramycin may cause dizziness. If you experience dizziness, avoid these activities.Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or artificial UV light (e.g., tanning beds). Vibramycin may increase the sensitivity of the skin to sunlight and sunburn may result. Use a sunscreen and wear protective clothing when exposure to the sun is unavoidable. Vibramycin Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you are using, especially : cholestyramine (Questran) or colestipol (Colestid), an antacid such as Tums, Rolaids, Milk of Magnesia, Maalox, and others, a product that contains bismuth subsalicylate such as Pepto-Bismol, minerals such as iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium, and over-the-counter vitamin and mineral supplements, carbamazepine (Tegretol, Carbatrol, Epitol), phenytoin (Dilantin, Phenytek), didanosine (Videx), a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin), sucralfate (Carafate), a barbiturate such as phenobarbital, mephobarbital (Mebaral), secobarbital (Seconal), or pentobarbital (Nembutal), a penicillin antibiotic such as amoxicillin (Amoxil, Trimox, others), penicillin (BeePen-VK, Pen-Vee K, Veetids, others), dicloxacillin (Dynapen), carbenicillin (Geocillin), oxacillin (Bactocill), and others, or methoxyflurane (an inhaled anesthetic gas used during surgery).
Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Vibramycin. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines. Vibramycin Overdose If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include
nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Vibramycin Notes Do not share Vibramycinwith others.
Vibramycin Missed Dose If you miss an Vibramycindosage, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
Vibramycin Storage Store Vibramycinat room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture.
